Even if you are not sure you qualify for financial aid, it is in your best interest to submit the FAFSA form (some schools refer to it in determining merit aid). Do it now, even if you haven’t yet sent in your college applications!
Why?
- 1) In order to submit an application for a Vermont Grant for college, you need first to have submitted the FAFSA. The Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) administers the Vermont Grants.
- 2) A Vermont Grant is money that you don’t have to pay back. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of receiving a grant (assuming you meet eligibility requirements). There is a limited pool of money set aside for these grants. Once the pool runs dry, you will have no chance of receiving a grant. Go to www.vsac.org/grants to apply.
