As both the school college counselor at a small Waldorf high school and as a private consultant, I work with a wide range of students, from those seeking admission to highly selective schools, to colleges with strong support services for learning differences or to schools offering an alternative approach to learning.
I support my private clients through the many stages of college admissions, from offering guidance in creating a summer job or internship résumé, to providing clients with a well-researched, personalized list of “Good Fit” colleges and supporting them through the entire application process.
I advise clients in how to make the most of their college visits, and I provide mock-interview practice, college essay support as well as assistance in filling out the Common Application and advice on how to apply for financial aid. Above all, I help my clients stay organized, calm and invested in the college admissions process.
Does your high school student stand out as a confident college applicant? Is your student applying to schools where he or she will be both academically challenged and successful? Is he or she calm, well-organized and ready to deal with the pressures of applying to college? Does your student have a clear idea of what college environments would best support his or her learning style?
To learn how I can help your student become a confident college applicant, I offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory session in person or via Skype. Why not book a session with me?
I first developed an interest in college admissions as Smith College’s Alumnae Admission Coordinator for Vermont and for nearly ten years I have worked as the college counselor at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School, a small private high school.
The part-time position keeps me in regular contact with college admission representatives, the College Board, tutors, financial aid offices and allows me to make numerous visits to colleges and universities across the US and Canada.
My role as college counselor gives me a front row seat to each student’s experience of the college admissions journey, from struggles with financial aid applications and requesting accommodations for learning differences to finding a balance between school, test prep and extra-curriculars.
Born and raised in Vermont, I graduated from Concord Academy, then took a gap year to work for a 3-day event rider in England and attend the Alliance Francaise in Paris. Following Smith where I majored in Modern European Studies and minored in French and spent my junior year at the University of Geneva, I studied acting in Manhattan and eventually pursued my masters in education at Columbia University. With my husband Christophe, I spent two years living in Kobe, Japan where I taught English at Konan Women’s University. When we returned to the US, Christophe and I opened an upscale French restaurant in Vermont and had three children. In 2008 I joined the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School, where I continue today as the school’s part-time college counselor.
